Sandbox

For Zayne, this abstract artwork was reminiscent of a sandbox as he took several tries to get his “sandcastle” to look right. The final result was achieved by dragging paint artfully and carefreely along the canvas as the artist relieved his perfectionism, allowing himself to ‘play’ with the colours.

Zayne Pua, who lives with Anxiety Disorder, has been drawn to drawing and painting since childhood. As his condition developed, he discovered that creating art helped him manage anxiety and find moments of calm. Even after he was advised to stop school, he has continued to paint, holding closely to the practice that supports him. Today, art remains an important part of his life, offering both comfort and a sense of direction in how he moves forward.
