By Joshua Lee Tze Kiat, The Art Faculty
Joshua’s graphite drawing of a white tiger captures a sense of mystery and depth. The tiger, elongated and shadowed, is surrounded by a soft, dark halo, possibly created by graphite smudges, adding an intriguing layer to its form. With a blank background, the tiger stands alone, drawing focus to its quiet intensity. The contrast between light and dark invites reflection, leaving the meaning of the piece open to interpretation.
About
Joshua, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), creates highly stylised drawings and paintings of animals, each one rendered in an elongated form and presented in a side view, reminiscent of Egyptian hieroglyphs. His unique approach gives the animals a sense of elegance and timelessness, blending ancient art influences with his own creative vision. Through his work, Joshua brings a new perspective to the animal kingdom.
