Whimsy in Floral Light (Diptych)

During her visit to Gardens by the Bay, Genine was drawn by a dreamscape of blossoms, each bloom more mesmerising than the last. The flowers were washed in a symphony of vibrant hues. The petals were morphed into familiar figures from beloved Disney tales, from Winnie the Pooh to The Little Mermaid. Above her, floating floral spheres danced playfully, rising and falling in rhythmic motion, casting a childlike enchantment. In "Whimsy in Floral Light", she captures this sense of awe and wonder, inviting viewers to rediscover the joy and imagination of childhood. Through abstract floral forms and sweeping gestures, she recreates the kaleidoscope of colours she encountered. Bringing to life what she saw and felt.

About

Genine, born with Epilepsy, is known for using her hands and feet to move paint across the canvas, creating art that is an odyssey of courage and creativity. In her early days, she would cover her entire body in paint, fully immersing herself in the experience. Today, her work continues to reflect that same curiosity and playfulness, with phantasmic colours and textures that draw viewers in for a closer look. As part of Extraordinary People's Creative Lab, Genine has showcased her work alongside notable artists and won the Shining HeArts Award in 2024.
