By Gabriel Rhed Osea Longid
The artist once saw a hornbill at the zoo and couldn’t take his eyes off its beak — bright and golden like a splash of sunshine. The artist painted the hornbill's body black and white because that's what it really looks like, but the background — lush with greens and hints of gold — is the jungle as the artist imagines it: vibrant, quiet, and full of mystery. The bird looks quiet, but if you linger with the painting, you might sense it singing. Not with sound, but with presence — soft and steady, like a melody only the heart can hear. The artist is drawn to animals — those that feel a little different, but filled with something unique.
