By Serene Sng, ARTDIS (Singapore) Ltd.
"Watermelons" by Serene Sng is a vibrant still life that celebrates the refreshing, juicy quality of this summertime fruit. With incredible attention to detail for colour and composition, Sng uses a dry brush technique to form an illusion of texture on the surface of the fruit. The green-yellowish table and the orange-coloured wall create a contrast effect and enhance the vibrancy of the sliced watermelons, bringing the composition to life. Inspired by the freshness and wholesomeness of watermelons, this piece invites viewers to pause and savour the beauty found in everyday delights.
