By Reuel Dylan Tan Toh Kia (Chen Tujia), ExtraOrdinary People
“The Shape of Thought” marks Reuel's exploration into Cubism, delving into how form, perspective, and emotion can coexist within abstraction. The painting exhibits dynamism in fragmentation, suggesting the multifaceted and non-linear quality of thought. Small bursts of colour are strategically placed within the composition, symbolising moments of clarity, flashes of insight, or the emotional undertones that often accompany our thoughts. Through this artwork, Reuel depicts many aspects of himself, offering a visual metaphor for the hidden and ever-evolving processes of the mind.
