This artwork delves into the story of space and the origins of life, where it is believed that the first sparks of existence were cast from the cosmos. The tree, as a central symbol, represents the birth of life itself, its roots stretching back to the stars. It embodies the quiet, awe-inspiring moment when life first took root, connecting the vast expanse of the universe with the simple, yet profound, emergence of life on Earth.
About
Miss Thongwan Chaiwong, from Mae Sai, Chiang Rai, is an artist who overcame Childhood Lymphoma, which left her paralysed from the waist down. Diagnosed at just 11 months old, she defied doctors’ expectations, surviving well beyond her prognosis. Unable to attend school, Thongwan developed a passion for astronomy and art, painting mythical kinnaree and celestial bodies. She believes art and science complement each other, creating new possibilities. Despite living with Chronic Kidney Disease, Thongwan continues to create art, inspired by the mysteries of the universe.
