By Zhang Kaini, Mouth and Foot Painting Artists
In a quiet woodland glade, time seems to slow down. A serene pond rests at its heart, where two white swans glide in perfect harmony, their reflections dancing gently on the rippling water. Tall trees stretch skyward, their leafy canopy dappled in sunlit greens and mellow golds, casting soft shadows that sway with the breeze. The vibrant underground is dotted with delicate blooms in hues of violet, blue, and white, adding a splash of colour to the landscape. With soft, flowing brushstrokes, the artist weaves a dreamlike scene, with a sense of serenity in nature.
About
Zhang Kaini was a Mandarin teacher in Singapore before a car accident left her paralysed from the shoulders down. Refusing to be defeated by her circumstances, she taught herself to paint by holding a brush between her teeth. With remarkable focus and determination, she made rapid progress and soon began earning a living through her art. Today, her intricate and expressive paintings of the natural world are highly sought after. As a full-time artist and member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide (MFPA), Kaini continues to inspire others, especially Person with Disabilities (PWDs), through her resilience and creative spirit.
