The Blue Swimming Crab’s Dance

Commonly found along the shores of Changi Beach and Chek Jawa, the blue swimming crab comes to life in Joshua’s painting through vibrant blues. He captures the crab in motion, as if dancing with the tide, full of energy and rhythm. With each stroke, Joshua celebrates the harmony between the animal and its environment—coastline—a reminder of the quiet beauty that flourishes where land meets sea.

Since discovering art, Joshua has developed a distinctive creative voice that speaks through vibrant colours, particularly in his signature blue palettes. At 18, he transforms quiet moments spent observing nature into expressive works that bridge his inner world with those around him. Diagnosed with severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in his early years, he has overcome challenges in cognitive, language, and motor skills to forge his own artistic path.
