Bear-y Good Friends

Wittingly playing on words, "Bear-y Good Friends" is an artwork which showcases objects and characters that bring comfort and joy to Sayge. At the forefront of this artwork are two brown bears, inspired by the artist’s treasured soft bears which he calls his “babies”. His bears provide him a sense of comfort and help regulate his emotions. Behind the bears, two other characters playfully peek out, as if playing a game of ‘hide-and-seek’ with the viewers.

About

Sayge is an artist with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who has shown a strong interest in drawing from a young age. With support from his mother, he has explored different materials and developed a love for creating art. Inspired by cartoons, animals and icons from his communication device, he uses drawing as a calming tool and a way to express himself. His artworks reflect his creativity, interests and personal expression.
