Cherry blossoms, long celebrated as a symbol of renewal, beauty, and the fleeting nature of life. "Spring Blossom" draws upon that tradition, portraying a serene grove of cherry blossom trees awash in deep pink. The trees, with their gently twisting branches, anchor the composition, their blooms captured at the height of their splendour. Petals are rendered with exquisite detail; some clinging to the boughs, others caught mid-fall, drifting towards the ground in a quiet, graceful descent. Zhang portrays the ephemerality of the blossoms through soft brushwork and vivid colour. It is a meditative tribute to nature’s rhythm — a fleeting moment, suspended in time.
About
Zhang Kaini was a Mandarin teacher in Singapore before a car accident left her paralysed from the shoulders down. Refusing to be defeated by her circumstances, she taught herself to paint by holding a brush between her teeth. With remarkable focus and determination, she made rapid progress and soon began earning a living through her art. Today, her intricate and expressive paintings of the natural world are highly sought after. As a full-time artist and member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide (MFPA), Kaini continues to inspire others, especially Person with Disabilities (PWDs), through her resilience and creative spirit.
