This painting began in frustration, the colours clashed, the layers felt wrong, and nothing seemed to flow, the colour choice and all. In a moment of exasperation, almost without thinking, Zayne carved out the patterns we now see, like slicing through chaos with clarity. Zayne felt like chopping onions with a sharp knife. A happy accident, born not from perfection, but from letting go. Sometimes beauty grows not from careful planning, but from the raw honesty of a moment.

Zayne, 14, has faced significant challenges with Anxiety and mild Depression since a bullying incident at age nine. These struggles affected his ability to attend school and navigate daily life. However, through the power of art, Zayne has found a vital outlet for his emotions, allowing him to express himself and find peace amidst the turmoil. Despite the setbacks he’s encountered, Zayne's passion for art has been a constant source of strength and healing. With the support of SAMH, he continues to grow and inspire those around him with his resilience and determination.
