By Zhang Kaini, Mouth and Foot Painting Artists
Tibetan Sleeve Dance is a traditional art form known for its grace and expressive movement. "Sleeve dance" features a group of dancers mid-performance, their long, flowing sleeves sweeping through the air in rhythmic arcs, forming delicate, swirling patterns around them. Each dancer is adorned in vibrant, intricately detailed costumes and ornate headpieces, each element adding to the richness of the scene. With a focus on motion and elegance, the painting is a homage to the beauty, spirit, and cultural depth of this unique dance tradition.
About
Zhang Kaini was a Mandarin teacher in Singapore before a car accident left her paralysed from the shoulders down. Refusing to be defeated by her circumstances, she taught herself to paint by holding a brush between her teeth. With remarkable focus and determination, she made rapid progress and soon began earning a living through her art. Today, her intricate and expressive paintings of the natural world are highly sought after. As a full-time artist and member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide (MFPA), Kaini continues to inspire others, especially Person with Disabilities (PWDs), through her resilience and creative spirit.
