This painting captures the liveliness and motion of Singapore's skyline at sunset. Using bold colours and expressive brushstrokes, Sijun delves into the harmony between architecture, water, and light. The reflections are not simple imitations but interpretations —fluid, dynamic, and ever-changing. Rather than photorealism, he savours an impressionistic approach that uses colour and texture to evoke energy and atmosphere. The interplay of warm and cool tones reflects transition, a transient moment between day and night. Sijun hopes to invite viewers to feel a sense of movement and possibility, as if standing at the water’s edge, immersed in the colours of a city that never truly sleeps.

About

Sijun is a cheerful boy who finds joy in painting vibrant, colourful scenes. Born with Down Syndrome and Congenital Heart Defect, he has faced many challenges, including surgeries and difficulties with speech, vision, and gripping objects. Nevertheless, his love for painting has remained strong. Though he paints slowly, carefully filling each canvas stroke by stroke, he never gives up. Outside of painting, Sijun enjoys designing dream homes on his iPad and aspires to study interior design, hoping to create beautiful spaces that bring joy, just like the colours in his artwork.
