By Floyd Thien Fu Shin, ARTDIS (Singapore) Ltd.
This painting was inspired by cubism. By depicting himself in such a manner, Floyd wants to tell others that there are many facets to his personality. Through fragmented angles and abstract forms, revealing not only his likable nature but also the complexity of his inner world. Floyd invites viewers to pause and look beyond the surface, to see that he, like the artwork, is not defined by a single viewpoint. Each abstract shape and form represents different parts of his identity—strength, confidence, dreams, and hobbies.
About
Floyd, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), began his journey into art with a simple gift — a 'Magna-Doodle'—on his first birthday. A cheerful teenager with a fascination for numbers, he taught himself to write in Arabic and can count in several languages. Joining ART:DIS in 2006, Floyd views his weekly art classes as a safe space for relaxation and creative expression. Over the years, he has won numerous art competitions and received commissions from notable companies such as EZ-Link, SMRT, and Woh Hup.
