Shafiq always felt a deep connection to the sea — the thrill of boat rides and the joy of playing in the waves. But after he started having fits at the age of seven, those moments became distant memories. This painting seems to capture a fragment of that lost joy, a tender recall of happier days when the sea was his escape, inviting us to feel the warmth of his cherished memories.

Shafiq Nazri’s love for colours began at the age of five when he enjoyed playing with them on the computer. However, after starting to experience fits at age seven, his doctor advised stopping computer sessions. Instead, Shafiq was given art paper and later canvases, marking the beginning of his artistic journey over 20 years ago. Despite facing multiple challenges, including partial blindness, profound deafness, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Epilepsy, Shafiq has persevered, often taking longer to complete his works. His determination and passion for art continue to inspire his creative process.
