Resilient Harmony

Singapore is often called the "City in a Garden," and nothing embodies Singapore's spirit of resilience and beauty more than the orchid. Sijun captured the orchids standing proudly in the tropical heat, flourishing against the odds. The delicate pink butterflies bring a touch of lightness, much like how nature subtly softens the edges of Singapore's urban landscape, offering moments of beauty within the fast-moving rhythm of life. In this piece, Sijun wanted to capture the balance between strength and delicacy, much like how Singapore's towering skyscrapers stand in perfect harmony with lush gardens that surround them.

About

Sijun is a cheerful boy who finds joy in painting vibrant, colourful scenes. Born with Down Syndrome and Congenital Heart Defect, he has faced many challenges, including surgeries and difficulties with speech, vision, and gripping objects. Nevertheless, his love for painting has remained strong. Though he paints slowly, carefully filling each canvas stroke by stroke, he never gives up. Outside of painting, Sijun enjoys designing dream homes on his iPad and aspires to study interior design, hoping to create beautiful spaces that bring joy, just like the colours in his artwork.
