The artist stands at the river’s edge, where the water glows like molten gold at dusk, a lone bumboat drifts into view—its weathered hull meeting the gleaming future ahead. Behind it, the Fullerton Hotel rises, noble and serene, its stone columns whispering tales of gentler days. Above, the towers of Raffles Place stretch skyward, their glass façades reflecting every glint of hope. With each ripple, the artist’s heartbeat quickens—the boat carries both the echoes of yesterday and the promise of tomorrow. As the sky cradles the city in a soft embrace, he feels Singapore’s spirit pulse beneath his fingertips: steadfast, dream-filled, and forever poised for what comes next.

For over six decades, Siang Hoi has transformed silence into visual poetry through his distinctive mixed media artworks. Since learning from a Deaf art teacher at 14, he discovered in painting, its not just a passion, but a profound way to communicate with the world. Now at 75, he continues his artistic practice with the same quiet determination that has defined his journey. Working in a unique blend of watercolour, acrylic, and ink, he breathes life into nostalgic scenes of Singapore's past — from bustling marketplaces to riverside villages.
