By Koh Xin Abraham
The artist, born in the Year of the Rabbit, uses the metaphor of a rabbit trapped in a cage to express the challenges he faced growing up. Being timid, with low self-confidence and a communication disability, he often felt compelled to conform and live up to the expectations of others in order to fit in. Often, he hid behind a mask, concealing the hurts and frustrations he carried within. Yet, amidst these challenges, the artist holds onto hope — that one day, the cage will be unlocked by a compassionate hand from the community or society, freeing artists like him to pursue their passions and express their true selves.
