As many know, the Papilionanthe Miss Joaquim is Singapore’s national flower, chosen for its resilience and ability to bloom all year round, even in challenging conditions. It stands as a symbol of strength, unity, and the unwavering spirit of a nation that continues to flourish against the odds. Butterflies are well-known for being delicate in form, but they endure great change and emerge stronger—making them powerful symbols of growth and perseverance. In this painting, a girl is depicted with butterfly wings, resting gently among the orchids. She reflects the journey of herself growing within an environment that nurtures, shapes, and inspires, similar to the values that Miss Joaquim represents. Singapore is the place that nurtured Linda, where she grew into someone with resilience and strength. It is a home she is proud to call her own.
