By Vincent Seet (Seet Kie Hong)
Set against the iconic backdrop of Marina Bay Sands and the ArtScience Museum, the painting brings to life the rich tapestry of Singapore’s legends and myths. Featured are beloved tales such as the Merlion, the sacred origins of Kusu Island and Katong’s Leatherback Turtle, the whimsical story of Pulau Ubin’s formation through the Elephant, Pig, and Frog, and the dramatic swordfish legend of Red Hill (Bukit Merah). Through vibrant imagery and layered symbolism, the artwork pays tribute to the folklore that shaped our cultural imagination — stories that continue to inspire and ground Singapore’s identity today.
