"My Kueh Kampong" is a heartwarming tribute to the vibrant culture of Kampong life, where innovation and community spirit were at the heart of everyday activities. Inspired by the colourful kueh (traditional snacks) — that hold a special place in local culture—Sage Tan uses Fauvist techniques, echoing the bold colours and rhythmic brushwork of Henri Matisse. Through dapping techniques and vibrant hues, it creates a sense of joy and celebration. The painting invites viewers to the simpler times and the timeless delight found in shared moments and flavours of Kampong traditions.
