Lion Dance

It is a joyous occasion, for a "Lion Dance" breaks out in the surrounding. Against the lively percussion of drums, gongs and cymbals, the lion and performer come alive with the spirit of celebration. Guided by the booming rhythm, the lion and performer move in harmony. The artist’s use of bold impasto and textured layering, combined with loose, expressive brushwork and vibrant colours, evokes a vivid sense of motion, depth, and festive spirit.

About

Following a car accident that left Zhang Kaini paralysed from the shoulders down, the former Chinese language teacher chose to move forward with determination. She began painting using a brush held between her teeth, overcoming significant physical challenges. Through persistence and self-teaching, she became a successful artist. Her “colourful and cheerful” works reflect courage and optimism. A member of MFPA, the Singapore Art Society and ART:DIS, she also advocates for greater inclusion of persons with disabilities through her art.
