Deconstructed Union

"Deconstructed Union" is a playful reimagining of the artist's tropical birds, broken apart and reassembled into their most essential elements — beaks, bodies, and the bold patterns of their plumage. Purple feathers and white spots emerge in fragmented, abstracted form against the same vivid red backdrop as its companion piece, "Symmetrical Union," and yet the subject remains unmistakably avian. The work finds beauty in imperfection, treating deconstruction not as loss but as a process of growth and progress towards something whole. It is a joyful experiment that reveals how much character and life can be conveyed even in the most abstracted of forms.

Janetta is a mouth painting artist who turned to art after a life-changing car accident in 2010, which left her paralysed from the chest down. Through mouth painting, she found a way to express herself and regain control. Over time, it has helped her develop patience, precision, and joy, with each stroke of colour symbolising her journey of personal growth and resilience.
