Best companion

In this quietly moving work, the artist depicts two friends side by side, dressed in blue overalls and white hats, their fishing rods dangling patiently over the ocean. A red fishing bucket sits nearby, a small but telling detail that grounds the scene in gentle domesticity. One can almost imagine the easy conversation drifting between the two companions as they wait for a bite, the sea breeze carrying their words away. The fish, if they come at all, are beside the point. What matters here is the companionship, the shared silence, and the simple pleasure of being present together by the sea.

About

Janetta is a mouth painting artist who turned to art after a life-changing car accident in 2010, which left her paralysed from the chest down. Through mouth painting, she found a way to express herself and regain control. Over time, it has helped her develop patience, precision, and joy, with each stroke of colour symbolising her journey of personal growth and resilience.
