Magical Whale

The "Magical Whale" porcelain plate portrays young artists journeying through a starlit sky aboard a majestic whale, guided by glowing constellations. A brightly lit star tied to the whale’s tail acts as a beacon, showing the way forward. Through this whimsical creation, Don and his friends share a heartfelt message of bringing gifts, nourishment, love, and kindness to the world.

As a graduate of Metta School, Donovan Ho, who has Down syndrome, developed his interest in art through training in visual art and mixed media during his school years. He joined Arts@Metta nearly nine years ago, where he further honed his batik-making skills. Through his daily batik practice, Donovan continues to build his fine motor skills, patience and artistic confidence, expressing himself through a craft that has become an important part of his journey.
