By Wang Shuo, Muscular Dystrophy Association (Singapore)

The betta fish twists and turns through the tank, fins flowing in a playful rhythm. Gazing upon the fish and moving his hands along with the fish's gentle spins, the artist is instantly reminded of his joyful times playing, laughing and discovering little surprises with family and friends. Wang Shuo relishes in the simple moments with his loved ones through his art. The artist holds close to him the joy of play, for play sparks a sense of connection beyond the moment — one that lingers long after the fish has stilled and the water has settled.

About

Wang Shuo is a young artist with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy who uses drawing as a gentle but powerful way to express his inner world. Inspired by childhood memories, everyday moments, and cartoons, his work is full of colour, detail, and life. Since joining the MDAS Art Class in 2014, he has continued to grow in a supportive environment where art has become both comfort and voice. Despite physical challenges, he creates with patience and determination, using traditional drawing, creating social media posts and editing videos to share his imagination.
