By Vincent Seet (Seet Kie Hong)
Created in celebration of SG60, this piece brings together beloved Singaporean mascots that have shaped the nation’s social and cultural landscape over the decades. From the 1980s to the 2000s, familiar figures such as Singa the Courtesy Lion, Sharity Elephant, Smiley, Teamy, and Captain Green were joined by newer icons like Nila, August, Merli, Water Wally, and Blood Buddy. Each mascot represents a facet of national life: from community values, productivity, and environmental awareness to water conservation, tourism, public health, and the Singapore spirit. This is a tribute to the campaigns and causes that have united generations.
