天天向上: Up and Up

Red peonies symbolise love, passion, and respect. In "天天向上: Up and Up", each red peony represents one of Serene’s school peers, who are always looking for ways to grow and progress. Serene enjoys spending time with her friends who she grew up with as everyone aspires to improve and develop. This artwork is a reminder to viewers to cherish the people around them, especially those who inspire others to better themselves.

About

Serene’s artistic practice emerged through community arts programmes, where creative engagement supported her recovery journey while living with Schizophrenia. Through art-making, she developed greater connection, trust and openness. After exploring different mediums, she returned to Chinese ink, drawn to its aesthetics and philosophy. Her practice now serves as a space for reflection, self-regulation and creative inquiry, allowing her to engage deeply with herself and the world around her.
