The Rainy 3

The artwork, “The Rainy 3”, imagines a neighbourhood inspired by Singapore shophouse architecture, set within the mood of heavy rain. Familiar buildings shift into something more dreamlike, shaped by imagination and memory. Trees become ondeh-ondeh kueh, adding a playful and surprising twist to the landscape. Small figures pass through the scene, bringing a sense of life and connection. The rain, painted in thick strokes of blue, green, and red, carries different moods — calm, nature, and passion — blending together to create a colourful, expressive world.

Living with Visual Impairment and Intellectual Disability, Sage Tan Song Yen is a 20-year-old Diploma in Fine Arts student at NAFA. Driven by a passion for drawing and painting, he is especially interested in drawing portraits and sketching buildings outdoors.
