The Kampong of Kembangan, once a harmonious blend of Malay and Chinese communities, coexisted until the mid-eighties in what is now the Kembangan neighbourhood. "Kembangan," meaning "expansion" in Malay, was home to many, with Jalan Kembangan—named by villagers in the 1930s—serving as its heart. Over time, the road lost its significance, replaced by Sim Avenue East and Changi Road. This artwork captures the essence of that village life, preserving a piece of the past amid modern change.
