Chasing Sunsets Above Clouds

"Chasing Sunsets Above Clouds" is perhaps the most atmospheric of the artist's aeroplane series. The plane's wing and engine are visible in the lower frame, but the eye is drawn immediately upward to the sky a sweeping, luminous expanse of purple and pink that bleeds into deep blue as the last light of the sun catches the clouds from below, setting them aglow. The mood is fleeting and magical, suffused with the particular kind of wonder that belongs to the window seat at dusk. The work reflects an artist who chases beauty instinctively, who knows to look out of the window at exactly the right moment, and who has the skill to hold that moment still on canvas.

Julian, 20, is an artist with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who channels his energy into both athletics and art. He enjoys running on the treadmill and playing basketball, where his three-point shots reflect his focus and enthusiasm. Inspired by Thomas the Tank Engine, he brings the same energy into his artwork, sharing his joyful perspective on life’s simple pleasures.
