Between Forests and Shores

"Between Forests and Shores" is a sweeping, bird's-eye view of the world as seen from a plane window, the grey wing just visible at the edge of the frame. Below, the landscape unfolds in a patchwork of greens paddy fields, dense forest giving way to the pale beige of coastline and the blue of the open sea as the plane descends. The colours are layered and considered, and the composition captures something of the fleeting, breathless quality of that moment when land comes back into view after a long flight. It is a painting about transition and wonder about the way travel opens the eye to the sheer, quiet beauty of the world spread out below.

Julian, 20, is an artist with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who channels his energy into both athletics and art. He enjoys running on the treadmill and playing basketball, where his three-point shots reflect his focus and enthusiasm. Inspired by Thomas the Tank Engine, he brings the same energy into his artwork, sharing his joyful perspective on life’s simple pleasures.
