The Tiffin Tales

"The Tiffin Tales" is a richly layered work steeped in cultural memory and heritage. Peranakan tiffin carriers adorned with delicate floral designs and wedding motifs are set upon a marbled table within the interior of a traditional Peranakan home, rendered in a soft and considered palette of white walls, blue tiles, and the gentle greens, yellows, and pinks of the tiffins themselves. The scene carries a deep sense of nostalgia, evoking a way of life that is quietly fading from the everyday. It reflects an artist with genuine reverence for cultural identity and an attentive appreciation for the stories embedded in the objects we inherit.

Jonas, an artist with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), expresses his creativity through vibrant artworks inspired by rainbows, Mario characters and pirate adventures. Through art, he has found a meaningful way to communicate his imagination and ideas, gradually building confidence in sharing his inner world. Over time, drawing has become an important outlet for him, allowing him to explore colour, storytelling and expression in ways that feel natural and joyful.
