Gazing Afar

At the water's edge of a serene beach, stands a woman and two young girls. Their dresses flutter gently in the breeze, evoking a sense of lightness and quiet freedom. Hand in hand, they form a tender circle of connection and protection, framed by the soft rhythm of the sea. Gentle waves lap at the shore, while the sky above is tinged with delicate shades of blue and pale pink, capturing the fading light of sunset. Bathed in this tranquil glow, the scene radiates peace, warmth, and the enduring bond of family.

About

Zhang Kaini was a Mandarin teacher in Singapore before a car accident left her paralysed from the shoulders down. Refusing to be defeated by her circumstances, she taught herself to paint by holding a brush between her teeth. With remarkable focus and determination, she made rapid progress and soon began earning a living through her art. Today, her intricate and expressive paintings of the natural world are highly sought after. As a full-time artist and member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide (MFPA), Kaini continues to inspire others, especially Person with Disabilities (PWDs), through her resilience and creative spirit.
