The Fullerton Hotel stands as a timeless landmark along the Singapore River, bathed in the glow of a golden sky. Once a post office, it now gathers stories from travellers around the world. The river, once a lifeline of trade, now reflects both past and future. Behind the Fullerton, the modern skyline rises as a testament to the city’s transformation. Yet the Fullerton remains a bridge between then and now, where memories flow like the river’s waters. In this painting, the artist captures the city’s evolution, where history and progress dance beneath the golden sky, merging into a timeless memory of Singapore — forever bright, always evolving.
About
For over six decades, Siang Hoi has transformed silence into visual poetry through his distinctive mixed media artworks. Since learning from a Deaf art teacher at 14, he discovered in painting, its not just a passion, but a profound way to communicate with the world. Now at 75, he continues his artistic practice with the same quiet determination that has defined his journey. Working in a unique blend of watercolour, acrylic, and ink, he breathes life into nostalgic scenes of Singapore's past — from bustling marketplaces to riverside villages.
