By Zhang Kaini, Mouth and Foot Painting Artists
In a charming winter village scene, the air is filled with warmth, joy, and festive spirit. In the foreground, children dressed in brightly coloured winter clothes gather to build a snowman, bringing life and laughter to the snowy landscape. The snowman, cheerfully adorned with a red hat and scarf, stands proudly as the centrepiece of their play. Behind them, snow-covered houses painted in warm brown tones, trees dusted with white paint, and a softly glowing sky complete the background, creating a serene, peaceful atmosphere. Zhang’s delicate brushstrokes and gentle palette evoke the nostalgic charm of a classic winter’s day; a celebration of simple pleasures, shared moments, and the warmth of togetherness.
About
Zhang Kaini was a Mandarin teacher in Singapore before a car accident left her paralysed from the shoulders down. Refusing to be defeated by her circumstances, she taught herself to paint by holding a brush between her teeth. With remarkable focus and determination, she made rapid progress and soon began earning a living through her art. Today, her intricate and expressive paintings of the natural world are highly sought after. As a full-time artist and member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide (MFPA), Kaini continues to inspire others, especially Person with Disabilities (PWDs), through her resilience and creative spirit.
