60 years ago, Singapore was a quiet whisper, much like the humble orchid in this painting that is unknown, yet full of promise. Through time’s gentle passage, it has blossomed into a name known far and wide. The orchid currently stands as a living symbol of our nation’s flourishing growth, deep-rooted unity, and steadfast journey toward a bright and hopeful future.

Choon Heng enjoys engaging in healthy, meaningful activities at the Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) centres and has a love for food. In his 40s, he joined the SAMH as a member, where he began exploring different art mediums, particularly acrylic painting. Through painting, Choon Heng finds peace and focus, and he especially enjoys the calming process of working with acrylics.
