By Moy Saw Han
This painting is a vibrant celebration of Singapore’s skyline, illuminated by a brilliant cascade of fireworks. Set against a deep black background, the colourful bursts of red, gold, blue, and violet light up the night sky in vivid contrast, symbolising joy, progress, and national pride. Below, the calm surface of the Singapore River mirrors the display above, its shimmering reflections adding depth and motion to the composition. The cityscape stands quietly beneath the spectacle, recognisable landmarks such as Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, and the flower domes of the Gardens stretch along the horizon. This painting captures not just a moment of festivity, but also creates a harmonious balance between urban development and natural beauty.
