By Ng Siang Hoi, Friends of The Disabled Society
This artwork invites the viewer to step back into the warmth and simplicity of old kampung life, drawing inspiration from the traditional villages that once defined the landscapes of Singapore and Malaysia. Rustic attap houses, weathered wooden walkways, and children gathering along the riverside contributes to a vivid sense of place and time. The artist captures the kampung spirit not merely as a visual setting but as a feeling rooted in community and shared rhythm, honouring a world that, though largely gone, continues to live on in memories and stories
