By Tan Khee Huat, Mouth and Foot Painting Artists
The elephant, often a symbol of strength, wisdom, and tradition, becomes both guide and companion in the misty, green wilderness that surrounds it. This piece reflects a quiet encounter with nature, capturing the gentle bond between humans and animals. It showcases the beauty of coexistence, where harmony and respect are built on trust and shared presence.
About
As the only son, Tan Khee Huat was expected to take over his family’s drink stall business. However, in 1993, a traffic accident left him paralysed from the chest down, altering the future he had once envisioned. With the unwavering support of his wife and family, he adjusted to his new reality. It was through mouth painting that Khee Huat discovered a new form of self-expression, turning adversity into a source of strength. His art now reflects his journey, proving that even the most challenging circumstances can ignite creativity and a renewed sense of purpose.
