By Ashley Yan Wing Yan, Rainbow Centre Singapore
Ashley’s artwork brings together some of Singapore’s most recognisable cultural and visual symbols in a joyful, celebratory composition. At its heart, the Merlion. A proud emblem of national identity, a dynamic dragon boat race surges across the foreground, capturing the spirit of unity, strength, and tradition. The backdrop features the geometric beauty of Peranakan tiles, adding a touch of heritage and intricacy. Towering above it all is the iconic silhouette of Marina Bay Sands, a modern marvel that reflects the nation’s forward-looking spirit. Through this piece, Ashley creates a harmonious tribute to Singapore’s rich identity full of colour, movement, and pride.
