Playful Treats in Bloom

The artist reimagines the familiar local dessert, chendol, as a joyful expression of colour and play. Presented in a traditional Peranakan bowl, the piece becomes a vibrant visual celebration rather than simply food. Signature elements—palm sugar, pandan-flavoured jelly, red beans, and creamy coconut—are arranged within the bowl, while dyed eggshell mosaics decorate the Peranakan ware with patterns inspired by traditional ceramics.

About

Christopher is an artist with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who began his art journey under the guidance of his mentor, Teacher Karyn. Over nine years of support, he has grown from simple sketches to detailed wildlife paintings, steadily building skill and confidence. He has recently begun experimenting with dyed eggshells to add texture and depth to his work. Inspired by nature, he uses art as a form of communication and expression.
