It’s Chinese New Year, mandarin oranges are exchanged and good fortune is everywhere. With his mouth as his brush, Bingchuan captures the celebratory essence of this festival. Fortune and food are in abundance, represented by the full basket and oranges outside. The two oranges are mainstays in the “Bai Nian” culture, symbolising longevity and fertility. This artwork invites viewers to bask in their joyful festive memories and look forward to the next celebration.

About

Born in 1985 and diagnosed with Hypotonic Cerebral Palsy, Bingchuan lives with significant physical challenges and is unable to communicate verbally. Through the support of caregivers and therapists, he discovered art as a powerful means of expression. Over time, he developed confidence in using imagery, colour and symbolism to communicate ideas, often exploring themes of companionship, freedom and inner strength.
