The Life of the Underwaters

Underwater creatures come in all the colours of the rainbow, an endless spectrum. When sunlight shines above these inhabitants, their colours shimmer like glowing ribbons and catch the eye of all who pass by. These iridescent fighting fish are known for their conflicts but this painting showcases a rare moment of harmony between them as the fishes swivel gracefully with each other amongst the seagrass. Through this artwork, the artist invites viewers to imagine if this harmonious relationship can extend beyond the seas.

Ng Siew Lian discovered her artistic voice through resilience and self-discovery while living with Spinal Muscular Atrophy and other health conditions. Introduced to art as a therapeutic activity, she gradually found in it a meaningful outlet for expression. With encouragement and support, she developed confidence through colour, shape and brushwork, creating artworks that reflect patience, imagination and inner strength.
