Evening play by the Bay

Reminded of his younger days of cycling over Marina Bridge to watch the sunset with his mother, Chalmers captures the breathtaking skyline of Singapore in this artwork. Swirls of warm orange, rose, and gold fill the sky, melting into cool blues and deep purples that define the architecture of Singapore’s skyline. Reflections in the water are painted with loose, vertical strokes, stretching and bending the buildings into playful, dancing shapes. Sweeping brushstrokes create a dreamlike, energetic quality, capturing the artist’s joyful memory of play he experienced beside the water.

Chalmers, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at 18 months old, has explored art from a young age within a creatively inclined family. A highly visual learner, he expresses his creativity through a blend of Chinese and Western styles in painting and sand art. His talents also extend to music and sports, including achievements at the Special Olympics National Games 2022. Through his online business, he shares his art, fashion and accessories. Despite recognition and opportunities, he continues to face challenges in securing employment.
