Carnations

Carnations are often associated with fascination and motherly love. In this painting, ’Carnations’, several carnations gathered closely burst with vibrancy and bloom with flourish. Each one is full of life and colour. The simplicity of the background further reinforces the focus on the richly detailed flowers in the foreground, allowing their beauty to take centre stage. The result of it all is a vivid and energetic composition; a celebration of colour, warmth, and the timeless charm of the carnation.

About

Zhang Kaini was a Mandarin teacher in Singapore before a car accident left her paralysed from the shoulders down. Refusing to be defeated by her circumstances, she taught herself to paint by holding a brush between her teeth. With remarkable focus and determination, she made rapid progress and soon began earning a living through her art. Today, her intricate and expressive paintings of the natural world are highly sought after. As a full-time artist and member of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists Worldwide (MFPA), Kaini continues to inspire others, especially Person with Disabilities (PWDs), through her resilience and creative spirit.
