By Vincent Seet (Seet Kie Hong)
This painting features six butterflies, each representing a decade of Singapore’s transformation over the past 60 years. At the centre is the Common Rose: Singapore’s unofficial national butterfly, which emerged as a favourite during SG50. Set against the backdrop of Lorong Buangkok, Singapore’s last kampong, the scene captures the delicate balance between progress and preservation. As new buildings rise around it, the kampong remains a symbol of heritage and biodiversity, reminding us that growth and nature can coexist in harmony.
