Genine stands before her easel, she begins the piece with a thoughtful layering of greens: deep, earthy tones and vibrant emeralds, crafting a rich, textured foundation that evokes the density of jungle undergrowth. Gradually, she weaves in touches of yellow, infusing the scene with warmth, as though golden sunlight is piercing through the canopy, illuminating patches of life below. As her fingers glide across the canvas in bold, expressive strokes, blending hues in a seamless dance, mirroring the organic ebb and flow of the jungle’s pulse. Each rotation prompts a new direction in brushwork, a new interpretation of form and space. What emerges is a painting alive with motion, an evocation of the jungle’s raw spirit.

About

Genine, born with Epilepsy, is known for using her hands and feet to move paint across the canvas, creating art that is an odyssey of courage and creativity. In her early days, she would cover her entire body in paint, fully immersing herself in the experience. Today, her work continues to reflect that same curiosity and playfulness, with phantasmic colours and textures that draw viewers in for a closer look. As part of Extraordinary People's Creative Lab, Genine has showcased her work alongside notable artists and won the Shining HeArts Award in 2024.
