"Shape, Symbols & Play" gathers the objects of a dorm table, a human face, and various abstract shapes into a composition that reads as a personal visual inventory. The palette remains largely black and white, though generous splashes of colour begin to appear, suggesting a gradual loosening of the artist's approach. The work has the quality of a sketchbook page, honest, exploratory, and quietly revealing. It reflects an artist in the process of developing their visual language, finding in attentive looking a way of making sense of the world around them.

About

Tian Bao is an artist with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who discovered his interest in art at a young age through doodling and colouring. With encouragement from his parents and art enrichment classes, he developed his practice from simple shapes into more detailed compositions. His drawings often feature everyday subjects such as doors, flowers, vegetables, Chinese characters and portraits, reflecting his growing observation skills and imagination.
